Nimbus Mirror, Rectangular

Looking at the way an image or painting is framed, Copenhagen-based design studio Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen investigated how an entire frame could encircle a mirror without detracting from the beauty and reflection of the glass. The result is Nimbus, a simple and refreshing mirror in bronzed brass and light-reflecting glass that defines a space with its smooth and sophisticated rounded shape. A mirror is not merely functional:since ancient times, they reflect the style of a period - framed by Baroque ornaments or Gothic arches and the simple lines of the Bauhaus movement. The latest iteration of MENU takes the mirror's fundamentals into the modern age, but with a mythological twist, referenced in its name:in Greek mythology, Nimbus was a glowing cloud or crown that often surrounded a deity when on Earth. Design studio Krøyer-Sætter-Lassen has looked at the way a painting or image is framed to change the overall expression of the artwork. Surrounded by a bronzed brass halo ring, held in place by decorative screws, the circular mirror enhances the feeling of light and space in a room.
